Underwater Astonishments

Amazing Talk on Underwater Astonishments!

I came across this video on Youtube and found it so interesting about different underwater activities in several different organisms. David Gallo shows footage of bioluminescent animals in the deep ocean, cephalopods, cuttlefish, squids, octopus, and barracudas. If you have some time watch this video and you will be amazed with so many different things that these organisms can do to underwater.

This is just an extra post because I found it to be so interesting and the video displayed several different things that we have talked about (predation) in class and that others have covered in blog posts and presentations. Enjoy!

  1. I'm so glad you posted this video! I knew that the squid could change colors, but I found there technique around females to be so smart. They turn half of their body white (the side facing away from the female) to warn off other males, and then have the other half normal(the side facing the female). I had didn't know they did that, very interesting.
