I would like to do my presentation on the diatom Pseudonitzschia. This species produces the neurotoxin domoic acid. If this toxin makes its way into mammals or birds it can cause short term memory loss, brain damage, and possibly death.

This is now the third presentation on harmful algal bloom. It is OK for you to cover, but you will have to work with Patrick and Jessica to make sure that the three of you avoid overlap.
ReplyDeleteI think Jessica changed her topic. But I have my topic narrowed down to research into patterns that cause a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) and whether or not we can use that information to predict them.
